Jennifer Siebel weds Gavin Newsom

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

001.jpg Our member, San Francisco event designer extraordinaire Stanlee Gatti  was featured in the latest Spring/Summer issue of Town & Country Weddings.  Gatti was the event planner and floral designer for the wedding of Jennifer Siebel and San Francisco’s Mayor Gavin Newsom.   The couple got married at the Bitterroot Springs Ranch in Montana, owned by the bride’s father Kenneth Siebel.  Going with an Out of Africa-in-Montana theme, Gatti presented dinner at long tables outside, set with white garden roses and hand-painted English glassware.  Similarly, the bridal and bridesmaid’s bouquets consisted of all white garden roses with natural greenery, tied with white silk ribbon.

The couple planned three days of events to keep their 230 guests occupied, including a poolside cocktail party, a barn bash (complete with an electric bull, square dancing and live music), and a morning of hiking and fly-fishing before the ceremony on Saturday evening.  The bride and her father rode in on horseback to the ceremony, which took place in a meadow surrounded by wild grasses and animals, and was lead by Palo Alto-based healer Carol Simone who guided the couple through the exchanging of vows and readings of Native American poetry.  The night was spent mostly on the dance floor, which Stanlee Gatti had ‘orchestrated’  outdoors, beneath the stars.  www.stanleegatti.com

Going “Green” in the Great Outdoors

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

001.jpgFeatured in the Spring 2009 issue of The Bride & Bloom publication, our member florist Isari, located in Carlsbad, CA. www.isariflowerstudio.com, created a look of organic simplicity in the ideal open air locale of The Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla.  A variety of small centerpieces designed in natural burlwood bowls and other containers made of organic materials, lined the center of a long dinner table.  Graceful green lady slipper orchids and hot pink cyclamen plants were placed alongside full, gracious arrangements comprised of cut echeveria, purple eremurus, echinacea pods, orange blossoms, green variegated decorative kale and fluffy double white tulips.  To complete the look, a juicy green plum rested atop grape leaves, was placed at each place setting.

The use of natural containers made of organic material and live plants (which by the way, can continue to provide visual delight and oxygenation long after the party ends!), are the perfect example of how we can go “Green” with our events!

Muscari in Wisconson

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

21.jpgOur new member Muscari, in Milwaukee, WI, was featured in The Bride and Bloom Spring 2009 edition.  For this wedding, the couple chose a color combination of coral pink and light beige.   Muscari’s bridal bouquet incorporates these colors as well as accents of white and brown.  The flowers used are hydrangea, stephanotis, roses, spray roses, chocolate cosmos and monkey’s tail, collared with seeded eucalyptus.  To compliment, the boutonniere is designed with spray roses, hanging amaranthus and monkey’s tail.

For the main table, a tall crackle finish vase acts as the support for an arrangement crafted from white hydrangea, monkey’s tail, willow and hanging amaranthus cascading down the sides.  Three small arrangements of spray roses balance the base with the top.  Placed on the smaller tables are arrangements in glass rectangle vases embellished with a French satin wrap and filled with hydrangea, willow, hanging amaranthus, monkey’s tail and roses.  As a delicate touch, neatly folded napkins are placed on each plate with roses, monkey’s tail and stephanotis sitting atop.

Paul Robertson featured in Brides magazine Feb/Mar 2009

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

The happy couple were two high school sweethearts reunited after years apart.  The setting was the Old Federal Reserve Bank in San Francisco, California.

Designer and member florist, Paul Robertson, www.prfloraldesign.com, set the tone for this romantic and emotional pairing with jumbo rice-paper-wrapped lanterns and a red rose petal lined aisle for the procession.

Robertson’s simple and elegant gold candelabra centerpieces, bedecked with loose spheres of red roses and delicate tendrils of ivy trailing from below, were adorned at the base with gorgeous red rose petals.

The bride’s bouquet was a generous offering of gathered red peonies, while the bridesmaids carried complimenting bouquets of red tulips, with Black Beauty and Baccara roses of a traditional design.

Now based in Woodside CA, Judy owns her own home and garden shop named after her grandmother.   Among her many goods she has to offer are her gorgeous flower arrangements.  The large one featured below is a low & lush arrangement with lime green hydrangea, cymbidium orchids and artichokes.  The smaller one contains white hydrangea, orange and jade roses.

Treat Your Logo Like A Piece of Art

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

In the December 2008 issue of the SAF Floral Management magazine, our member florist Foxgloves & Ivy Floral Design (www.foxgloves.biz), spoke about their green-certified new design space and richly detailed new logo.
“It’s instant impact,” says proprietor Larry Hammack, AIFD. “But it’s not in-your-face marketing because the logo is true artwork.”

We here, at bbrooks fine flowers, couldn’t agree more.
